Four tables are presented. Tables 1 and 2 cover participants in the New Deal for Young People. Tables 3 and 4 cover the Long-Term Unemployed aged 25+ in Great Britain. The New Deal for Young People is aimed at those aged 18-24 who have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) for at least 6 months.
Until April 2001, the ND25+ was aimed at those claiming Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) for at least 2 years. From April 2001, an enhanced programme for those claiming JSA for 18 months or more was introduced.
Note: The unemployment claimant count includes the people who are in the New Deal "Gateway". Once People are on an option they are not counted as claimant unemployed.
